Sutton Coldfield Football Club has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with national renewable energy provider HDM Energies.
Through HDM Energies’ Energy for All scheme, the club will now benefit from a 76kW solar energy system at no upfront cost. This agreement locks in a fixed energy rate over a 12-year term, reducing the club’s energy costs by an impressive 50%. These savings amount to approximately £8,000 per year, while significantly cutting the club’s carbon emissions.
Further enhancing the club’s sustainability efforts, HDM Energies has also provided EV charging points at zero capital cost. These chargers not only offer a valuable amenity for the local community but also create a new revenue stream for the club.
This project was made possible through HDM Energies’ collaboration with Troo, a national energy consultancy that supports organisations by helping them connect with renewable energy solutions such as the Energy for All scheme.
Nick Thurston, Chairman of Sutton Coldfield FC, expressed his enthusiasm for the project:
“This opportunity to work with HDM Energies is exciting for the club and the community. This project demonstrates our commitment to both the future of the club and the planet. We would like to thank David Todd from HDM Energies and Mark Boyce from Troo for making this happen.”
David Todd, National Sales Manager at HDM Energies, highlighted the importance of this partnership:
“Community clubs like Sutton Coldfield deserve all the support we can give them. With the cost benefits gained through Troo and the savings and revenue stream provided by our fully funded solar and EV solution, Sutton Coldfield FC has taken an enormous step into a greener and more prosperous future.”
