Following the successful installation of solar, battery storage and an EV charging hub at Bridlington Town AFC, we’ve entered into a new partnership with Bridlington CYP, a Sports Centre which plays a vital role in serving the local community and its budding athletes. We’re proud to have delivered another 81kW solar array to the local area. By using our expertise and knowledge from other successful installations, we have an accessible solar model with zero upfront costs. Our initiative generates substantial savings for our customers, which can be invested back into the centre.
Serving the local community with solar
Bridlington CYP has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), which allows it to pay for the energy that they use, which is generated by their solar and battery storage system. This has reduced their energy costs significantly, as they now pay a rate that is well below traditional grid prices. So not only are they powering the club, they’ve also lowered their operating costs. Our sister company, HDM Solar, provided the full solar setup, including 120 astronergy panels and a Solax three-phase inverter. The centre is expected to see savings of around £1,560 per year, which will have a huge impact and enable them to reinvest this money into providing even more support to their community.
Providing this system at no cost to the centre, and continuing to maintain it for the duration of their 15-year contract, is all part of our promise to make solar more accessible. This partnership will help make the facility carbon-negative, saving 19 tonnes each year. The centre is also set to become a net exporter of electricity, further reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
Damien Grant, Club Director, said:
This project with HDM Energies is the next phase of our aim to protect both the environment and the future of our fantastic community asset. The team at HDM Energies has worked hard to bring us the best possible solution to combat our rising energy bills and to demonstrate our genuine green credentials. Dan Rogers and the HDM team are truly passionate about helping businesses to lower their bills through this technology. They’ve been a real pleasure to work with.
Dave Roberts, Managing Director at HDM Energies, added:
The opportunity to work with the inspiring team at Bridlington CYP has been is a real joy for all of us at HDM Energies. To be helping the centre and the community brings a real feel-good factor to our whole team. As a company, this is why we do what we do. We’ve invested heavily in Bridlington, and this project is one that we’re very proud.
Dan Rogers, Founder and CEO of HDM Energies, shared his enthusiasm for the project:
It’s a real pleasure to be part of the Bridlington community. Not only have we supported the Football Club in adopting solar power for their stadium, but now we’re helping the Local Centre for Young People go green. We’re helping local businesses across the UK to take back control of their energy costs, to ensure that crucial services can stay around and can benefit from affordable energy and clean power for years to come.
A brighter future for Bridlington
We’re looking forward to seeing the continued development of this project and the impact that HDM Energies will have on the local area of Bridlington. The centre will not only benefit from substantial savings in the first year, but will also be protected against rising energy costs for the duration of the contract. Every penny saved will be invested back into the community and support the incredible work that Bridlington CYP delivers for local young people and families.
